NDIS Occupational Therapy

As part of your NDIS Package - Occupational Therapy refers to assessment and treatment through the specific use of selected activity. This is designed by the occupational therapist and undertaken by those who have a temporary or permanent disability. The purpose is to prevent disability, to improve health and to help the person to his or her needs by achieving optimum function and independence.

Occupational Therapy Services can provide:

  • Clinical assessment
  • Treatment
  • Therapy or
  • Information

They can be provided separately or in combination with other Ourcare Services.

These services may also be accessed by participants who require:

  • Assessment and recommendation for the provision of aids such as shower chairs, tap turners.
  • Assessment and recommendation of modifications to the home environment e.g. Grab rails, ramps etc.
  • Education and advice regarding falls prevention strategies.

Ourcare is a registered NDIS Provider.

People who meet the NDIS access requirements are called participants. Participants receive funded supports and an individual plan.

If you are a person with disability and want to join the NDIS, you need to meet the access requirements. These include: availability of the Scheme where you live; your age; your residency status; your disability and in some cases your early intervention requirements.

If you think you meet these criteria, you can apply to join the NDIS.

You must be under 65 years of age when you apply to join the Scheme.

To meet the residency requirements, you must in Australia and:

  • be an Australian citizen    OR
  • hold a Permanent Visa    OR
  • hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
